TMNT: Another Sister Challenge

Another challenge came from my sister.  “Why didn’t you draw this first?”

Because… (click image to enlarge)

Shout out to my respected artist and superior Italian sculptor, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. I’m sorry it took this long to name a cartoon character after you bro. You had mad skillz.

egg.

Tortoise & the Hare, A Challenge From My Sister… Sort Of

Presented without commentary… (click to enlarge)

EDIT:  This  deserves an explanation. My sister showed me a shirt in which the tortoise has removed the batteries from the hare to win the race. Her question to me was, “Why didn’t you draw this first?!”. I didn’t have a verbal reply. I mean, I liked the illustration, but it was… light. So I replied to her with this as my only response.

Yet Another Comic, By Me. Why posting comics to reddit is like that scene in Back to The Future where Marty is failing at getting his parents to suck face.

Seriously, I love Reddit, but I struggle with posting anything of mine. It’s not healthy. Click the panel below to see the full strip…

Update: natch

Illustration Friday – Kernel

This is what I think I look like when that little husk from the popcorn  nastily wedges itself  between a tooth and the gum. It’s a blessing everyone is looking forward at the movie. Created this cool, calm night for  today’s Illustration Friday.

Another comic, by me. “Feyd was born to dance”

Comic fun! This one is going to be funny to few, if any at all. But the fight scene in Dune always struck me funny, as Sting is the most rail thin, fluid (as in dance) fighter they could have ever used, as evidenced here.

A Comic, by me. “pull my finger.”

Had this idea almost a year ago. Don’t usually do comics, but I’m thinking of making a habit of it. Dedicated to my wonderful lady, who chuckled  earnestly when I told her the comic idea. CLICK TO VIEW FULL COMIC!

Illustration Friday – Twirl

Was trying to convey the motion of a flamenco dancer.

Illustration Friday – Chicken

Pretty cut and dry interpretation of this week’s theme…

Kid Malone – Color Sample

As I’m starting to flush out the initial story, it sorta helps to start getting a clearer image of “Kid”. One of the things I learned in animation was to keep character development to pencil stretches until you got that “Ah-ha” moment where you knew what the coloration would be.

For me, I’ve always had a really crisp image of a character’s general look well in advance, but it helps to do these “color samples” ahead so other characters don’t get too similar.

I also wanted to toy with the idea of sidewalk chalk for her advertising purposes. It would be a cute routine for her to re-do it daily after the street washing every night.

Kid Malone, Investigator – Character Sketches

Awhile back, when I just came off the amazing experience of getting kid’s books published Kid Malone was a character I became excited about. Originally a little boy whose folks worked on the Adamville Police force, I thought it would be fun to go through a number of “cases” with a touch of noir.

More recently, Kristen suggested Kid should be a girl and it just clicked.

While creating the female version of Kid, I also saw the necessity for a Watson to my new Heroine Holmes. Some in my family may see a certain similarity to the character “Red” among our wonderful circus of relatives.

I’ll keep posting updates and eventually as this project forms maybe even some more polished artwork.
