A truly wonderful and eccentric businessman and pioneer of the 1800′s, John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed for his dream of bringing nurseries to all the other, really true pioneers moving westward.

      Much appreciated Justin, he was definitely an interesting cat. Used the legend of Johnny Appleseed to promote his nursery business.

  3. Neat take on “pioneer” and interesting info – I guess I never really knew Johnny Appleseed’s real name. Very nice illustration, you can tell he cares a lot about his little seedlings. :-)

    This is perfect. I saw a really interesting program on TV about Mr. Chapman, and it talked about how most of the apples he planted from seed were only good for cider. He actually had a bad reputation for a while for increasing “drunkenness” in America.
